Barrow House is the main heart of the school at Bishopstrow College. It is located within its own private land offering a safe and protected place for students to live and learn. The accommodation at Barrow house is in the form of dormitories which encourages interaction and comradeship. We offer separate accommodation for boy and girls. We believe it is important to have places students can go to relax and unwind after a busy day at school. The College offers spacious common rooms with plenty of sofas and chairs for students to sit and socialise. One common room features a large flat screen TV, a table tennis table and plenty of board games, incorporating a kitchen for student snacks. The spacious activities room, is equipped with comfortable sofa chairs, pool table, drum kit, piano and features a cinema system. For those who are keen to do extra study we offer a library for quiet study with individual study booths, DVDs and course books for every age group. An IT suite provides facility for boarders to keep in touch with family and friends. Barrow House also enjoys some exceptionally beautiful grounds where students can enjoy fresh clean air, play sports on the multi-use games area (MUGA), or sports fields.
In March 2012, in time for the beginning of Term 3, senior boys and Bishopstrow Boarding staff moved into our new senior boarding house known as Aldhelms. The house is a large Victorian villa refurbished to a very high standard and fully compliant with British building and safety regulations. The house has comfortable twin study bedrooms. The house has proved a very popular development with good use made of the student recreational areas, such as the kitchen, common room, garden and barbeque area. Aldhelms has its own laundry and will soon have its own fitness room. The house is a safe environment for students to make new friendships and develop their English.
The Cottage is located a short distance away in Bishopstrow and is surrounded by Wiltshire countryside. Students are transported every morning and evening by minibus to and from the College - only a five minute drive away. The cottage has a homely style with the living room providing a great atmosphere for the students to unwind and relax after a day at school. A Bishopstrow staff member also resides on site. There are two student bathrooms upstairs, both equipped with a bathtub/shower. Downstairs there is a well-equipped spacious kitchen, fitted with an Aga, microwave and washing machine. There is also a large conservatory, which acts as a dining room or study area, all set within an English country garden. The College is now registered as having 70 students (a maximum of 65 boarders and a maximum of 5 day students) and an age range of 7-17 years.
