Extra-Curricular Activities

Taking part in clubs and activities outside of regular classes is a great way to meet new friends and expand your horizons.  It also allows you to develop and demonstrate a broad range of interests outside of your studies, something that all top schools look for in applicants.

The extra-curricular programme includes a range of daily sports and morning and evening clubs and activities, designed to foster team spirit and the confidence to integrate using English as a Foreign Language (EFL) with others.

The College is able to arrange other activities such as horse riding, individual music lessons and golf on request and for an additional charge.

Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts provides students with the opportunity to pursue seasonal themed activities using a variety of mediums, focussing on the natural world around Bishopstrow and the changing of the seasons. Examples include recycled material Fashion Shows and Halloween and Christmas themed modelling.

The Crazy Scientist Club

The Crazy Scientist Club is designed to give our Middle College students engaging real-life applications to the science they are learning in class.  Students learn how to utilise chemical reactions to produce fuel for model rockets, create visual illusions using light refraction, and other practical experiments that link directly to our science syllabus.

Drama

In Drama, we work towards a performance each term that every student can take part in. Drama not only promotes public speaking but helps give students the confidence to use their English language skills in public. Students are currently working towards an end-of-term production of the Roald Dahl classic, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”.

Creative Thinking

Creative Thinking includes activities that have a STEM focus and that challenge students to think and organise themselves, developing communication skills, lateral thinking and team building.

Sport

At Bishopstrow, PE is an important part of our curriculum. Sport develops a number of social and practical skills and qualities that can be used in all aspects of life. We strive to provide opportunities for the EFL learners to experience all of the sports that are traditionally part of British boarding school education, as well as offering a huge variety in an attempt to find something that everyone can enjoy and succeed at. Sports at Bishopstrow include: hockey, football, basketball, rugby, netball, handball, lacrosse, cricket, rounders, athletics, tennis and badminton.
