Academic Summer Programme

The Academic Summer Programme is aimed at EFL learners who will be joining boarding schools in the UK in the autumn and those who wish to sample British education in the summer. There are two start dates at the beginning and mid-point of Term 4, with the Programme lasting five weeks.

Age

Students must be aged 7-11 years (Juniors), 11-14 years (Middles) or 14-17 years (Seniors) to join the Academic Summer Programme.

Entry Criteria: Minimum English Language Level

For Junior College students, there is no pre-requisite level of English required to enrol on the Academic Summer Programme.  Middle and Senior College students must have a minimum English language level of CEFR Level A2.

Course Length

The Academic Summer Programme is a 5 week course.

Subjects Studied

Juniors and Middles study EFL, Creative Arts, Geography, History, Mathematics, PSHE and Science. Senior College students study EFL, Business Studies, Global Perspectives, History, Mathematics, PSHE and Science.

Academic Study (Hours)

Juniors and Middles have 25 hours of academic tuition (5 hours in the classroom daily) and 5 hours of supervised prep.  Senior College students have 30 hours of academic tuition (6 hours in the classroom daily) and 7.5 hours of supervised prep.

End of Course Assessment

End of course assessment consists of internal EFL and subject based examinations.

Progression

After completing the Academic Summer Programme, students progress to Prep Schools or Senior Schools or return to their home country.
