Senior College Programme

The Senior College Programme is the most advanced of all of our programmes, and is an ideal choice for students aged 14 – 17 who require development of their English language and preparation for entry into the British senior school system and beyond.

The programme follows the globally renowned Cambridge Assessment International Education syllabi, and can lead to students gaining internationally recognised IGCSE qualifications.

Alongside their EFL lessons, students will attend Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) classes for their traditional academic subjects, like Geography, Maths and History. The intention of these classes is to provide additional EFL support within subjects that require more challenging forms of language use.

Students who are preparing to enter a British school or college and are looking for a preparation course that will help them develop the subject knowledge and language skills to help them succeed, may wish to join the programme for one or two terms, depending on how much preparation they need. Students who plan to sit the IGCSE exams in June, would generally plan to stay longer, possibly for the entire two year programme.

Students must be aged 14 – 17 years on entry to the Programme.

Entry Criteria: Minimum English Language Level

The minimum English language level on entry is CEFR Level A2 or IELTS 3.5.

To complement their studies, EFL learners also take part in the additional (non-examinable) subjects of Global Perspectives and PSHE, to ensure they have a well-rounded education.

Academic Study (Hours)

Each week, there are 30 hours of academic tuition (6 hours in the classroom daily) and 7.5 hours of supervised prep.

End of Course Assessment

End of course assessment consists of the Cambridge English Language and IGCSE examinations.

Progression

Depending on whether studying for EFL development or completion of IGCSEs, students can progress to Sixth Form entry at schools and colleges.
